Indian Ocean Live

I was extremely excited about attending an Indian Ocean concert, last Saturday (5th April), organised by Intel at Kalinga Hall in Grand Ashok in Bangalore.

The concert was amazing, even though it got over kinda quick! This band is really good with their fusion/Indian/rock mix and have come out with some amazing songs and albums. They played some of their newer tracks as well as golden tracks from Kandisa and Black Friday. They are going to be performing again in Bangalore on 12th April, and hopefully I will be able to attend that as well.

Maula Mere

A friend recently introduced me to this song from the movie Anwar and I just cant get it out of my head. A very soulful song and I just love the song and the video…

Very nice lyrics as well…

maula mere, maula mere maula mere, maula mere .

aankhein teri, kitni haseen
ki inka aashiq, mein ban gaya hoon
mujhko basa le, inme tu

ishq hai
maula mere, maula mere maula mere, maula mere ..

ishq hai
maula mere, maula mere maula mere, maula mere ..

ishq hai
maula mere, maula mere maula mere, maula mere ..

ki inka aashiq, mein ban gaya hoon
mujhko basa le, inme tu

mujhse yeh har ghadi, mera dil kahe
tum hi ho uski aarzoo,

mujhse yeh har ghadi, mere lab kahe
teri hi ho sab guftagoo

baatein teri itni haseen, mein yaad inko jab karta hoon
phoolon si aaye, khusboo

Rakh loon chhupa ke mein kahin tujhko
saaya bhi tera na main doon
rakh loon bana ke kahin ghar, mein tujhe
saath tere, mein hi rahoon

julfen teri, itni ghani
dekh ke inko, yeh sochta hoon
saaye me, inke mein jiyoon

ishq hai
maula mere, maula mere maula mere, maula mere ..

ishq hai
maula mere, maula mere maula mere, maula mere ..

ishq hai
maula mere, maula mere maula mere, maula mere ..

mera dil yahi bola, mera dil yahi bola,
yaara raaj yeh usne hai mujh par khola
ki hai ishq mohabbat, jiske dil main
usko pasand karta hai maula

mera dil yahi bola, mera dil yahi bola,
yaara raaj yeh usne hai mujh par khola
ki hai ishq mohabbat, jiske dil main
usko pasand karta hai maula

Comfortably numb in traffic

One of my all time favourite music groups has to be Pink Floyd. They are such a huge phenomenon and I don’t really need to write anything about their fan following or their awesome music.

Pink Floyd is what I listen to most of the time while driving to office and back, on the mp3 player in my car.

Earlier this week I wanted to see how long it takes for me to drive to office and back – and what better way to count than the number of Floyd songs I could listen to!

The drive from home to work, had me listening to the following songs -

Comfortably Numb” (6:23)
Coming Back to Life” (6:56)
High Hopes” – (7:51) – I reached my office when only half the song was up, so I waited in my car at the parking lot till this song got over. I couldn’t get myself to press the ‘off’ button before that!

While returning traffic was slightly heavy so I took longer (~25 minutes) than the roughly 17 minutes morning drive, but I generally enjoy driving to music, so I was comfortably numb in traffic indeed!

Keep Talking” (6:53)
Wish You Were Here” (6:35)
Learning to Fly” (4:53)
“Cluster One” (5:58)

I sometimes actually wish that I stayed further away from the office, so that I can listen to more music while driving! But then again…it’s such a relief to get back home so quickly.

On a sad note, David Gilmour has recently said that Pink Floyd will not be performing together anymore. The Live 8 concert with Roger Waters is to be their last performance together. Read more here and here

The only Pink Floyd concert I got to attend (and now ever will) was the Roger Waters – In The Flesh Tour way back on 13th April 2002 in Bangalore and that was simply the best concert I have attended so far. People poured into Bangalore from all corners of the country to attend the show and I also remember a certain cousin and a huge Floyd fan himself come down just for the show from Warangal! A truely great experience!
