Life @ 160+ kmph!

Wooooooooohooooooooooo! Just had one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life! A good friend of mine (Anshu) recently bought a bike, well not just any bike – but a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R super bike (select the ZX-GR model from menu, also read a review here) and he came over to my place tonight to take me for a ride! Wooohooo and what a ride it was! I’m still shaking thinking of it!

The first time Anshu accelerated from some 30 kmph to 120 kmph, I was like – “holy f*ck – this is awesome!”. We went from Old Madras Road to the Indiranagar – Koramangala ring road where he ripped some more on what is probably the best road for ripping in Bangalore! It didn’t stop there, somewhere near Koramangala, we turned and headed back on the ring road and we had some clear road and Anshu (being Anshu) accelerated even more and God, the turns were really scary! Apart from the speed, what was even more scary was that there wasn’t any proper place to hold on to for the pillion, I was hugging the fuel tank for dear life so tight my hands are aching now! We soon (very, very soon actually!) reached the new airport road junction flyover, and that’s when he got even more crazy and suddenly set off with a wheelie that nearly threw me off the bike and that’s when we touched around 160+ kmph!! Amazing acceleration, never experienced such a rush before! God I loved it!

It was my first time on a real superbike and like another friend said “Speed is orgasmic”. Amen to that.

Kerala Trip – Day 1: In the car

After procrastinating for far too long, I’m finally getting around to writing about my trip to Kerala, way back in April. We had a long weekend because May 1st was a holiday and decided to leave in the evening of April 28th and return on the morning of May 2nd.

The three day weekend was the perfect chance for some of us to get away from Bangalore and have some fun. The planning bore fruit and although Rishabh couldn’t make it, another champ, Ankith joined us.

After leaving office early, we — Sunil, Sharath, Ghana, Raghavan, Ankith and myself –finally left on 28th April (Friday) evening in a Qualis (cab) to Kerala!

In the cab

Our cab for the trip

The start wasn’t very good. While waiting to pick up Raghavan on Hosur road, we witnessed an accident. A mini bus tried to avoid a speeding two wheeler and swerved straight towards us, he then swerved again and the bus went flying and landed in a ditch, barely a few metres away from us. Luckily noone was hurt, except for probably the bike rider who was thrashed by the public for causing the accident and yeah the bus was a goner, it probably had to be craned out of the ditch. Later our cab developed some problem and we had to stop at a service centre for quite some time to get it fixed.

At the Qualis service centre When will the cab be ready?

At the service station

The rest of the onward journey was long but fun! We all had a nice time talking various things. The major theme for the evening was love and relationships, which the “newly-in-love” dudes were busy talking about, while Raghavan and I enjoyed laughing at them and reminiscing about our own past relationships…they have no clue what’s in store for them!

Post dinner   Dinner at some hotel somewhere on the way

Food!

Most of us didn’t sleep much that night in the car, or did so only in brief phases. We were all excited about the trip and eager to reach Munnar, our first stop. Next day early morning – we were treated to the most awesome entry into God’s own country, Kerala. Will write about that in another blog post!

See Saw

Damn just lost a nice big post that I had typed due to some connectivity problems. grrr! Will try and rewrite as much as I can remember.

I’ve been attending some training on advanced oracle and sql tuning since Thursday at work and by Friday it got too much and I just had to go out and have some fun. Met Anshu and a friend of his and had dinner at Desmond’s on Lavelle Road. We had lots of fun talking about life at college (PUC) and spent a lot of time laughing the night away!

After a long time I went to office on a Saturday, to attend day 3 of the training and as usual most of it went over the head and so as to not fall asleep and also getting into football fever, Kiran and I spent the afternoon playing book-football (dont even ask how it is played!!). The matches were exciting and close, but finally I won the series 3-1!! ;)

Went out with mom in the evening and I got home in time to finally see Saw. The movie comes under the genre of dark/psychopath killer/horror/crime and was one of the best movies I’ve seen in this genre apart from Se7en. The movie revolves around this psychopath killer, ‘Jigsaw’ – (but you can’t really call him a killer, because he doesn’t kill anybody. He just gives his victims a reason and the means to kill themselves) – who abducts people whom he accuses of not being grateful of being alive and puts them in a ’game’ as he calls the sick situations wherein they end up pretty much killing themselves or others just to stay alive. Lots of gruesome stuff and definitely not a movie for the faint hearted. But overall a great chilling thriller. The ending is a blood curling unexpected twist and just leaves you wanting to see Saw II.

I followed Saw with Mission: Impossible III. It was an okay movie. Nothing new. We’ve seen this kind of action before. Similar hero, hero’s babe, villains, babe gets kidnapped by villain, fights, gadgets, plot etc… similar to any number of movies in the past.

Hmmm thats about all I can remember about my lost post. A nice Sunday afternoon now and about one and a half hours to go for the British Grand Prix. I hope Schumi wins!
