WTF?! India Internet Censorship? July 19, 2006

ISPs in India are blocking access to various blogs and websites, inluding those at blogger, typepad and even geocities, based on an order from Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India.

Apparently various blogs and sites were considered too sensitive by the Government and required to be censored. But in the process of censoring these sites, the ISPs have ended up blocking all blogs and websites present in the same hosts. Whatever happened to democracy and rights and freedom of expression? Like I read somewhere – just because terrorists are using mobile phones to communicate, the Government can’t ban all phones; The same applies here.

I hope the government withdraws this order and let bloggers be.

I too wanted to crib badly about this foolish move, but, I am on blogspot :(

Infact, the Govt. can ban- cell phones, wired telephones, e-mail and everything else. Wow, what a security measure it would be! (errr…)

This clearly proves that the Indian Govt is filled with seriously smart f***ers who dont understand the difference between a blog and the website of a terrorist organization.
Wow! I am amazed at how such a move was made. But, i dont think it’ll hold for long.

I’m pretty sure it all started someplace when somebody taught somebody that to block sites, you’ve to add “*.websitename.com” to the blocked list. Ofcourse, both of them never had any idea of these things called “subdomains”, “Proxies” and “CDN”. Heck, they’d ask you who lived in “IP Address”:D

Dangerousness of Gov. Official = ((Real Moronity x Y) ^ Level in Bootlickin Hirearchy)/ (Apparent Moronity), where Y is Yuvi’s Constant and equal to 1:D Real Moronity is the real moronity of the dud as measured by us, while Apparent moronity is what the officials think of themselves….:D

Sorry for wasting your db space with an useless comment
