One of my all time favourite music groups has to be Pink Floyd. They are such a huge phenomenon and I don’t really need to write anything about their fan following or their awesome music.
Pink Floyd is what I listen to most of the time while driving to office and back, on the mp3 player in my car.
Earlier this week I wanted to see how long it takes for me to drive to office and back – and what better way to count than the number of Floyd songs I could listen to!
The drive from home to work, had me listening to the following songs -
“Comfortably Numb” (6:23)
“Coming Back to Life” (6:56)
“High Hopes” – (7:51) – I reached my office when only half the song was up, so I waited in my car at the parking lot till this song got over. I couldn’t get myself to press the ‘off’ button before that!
While returning traffic was slightly heavy so I took longer (~25 minutes) than the roughly 17 minutes morning drive, but I generally enjoy driving to music, so I was comfortably numb in traffic indeed!
“Keep Talking” (6:53)
“Wish You Were Here” (6:35)
“Learning to Fly” (4:53)
“Cluster One” (5:58)
I sometimes actually wish that I stayed further away from the office, so that I can listen to more music while driving! But then again…it’s such a relief to get back home so quickly.
On a sad note, David Gilmour has recently said that Pink Floyd will not be performing together anymore. The Live 8 concert with Roger Waters is to be their last performance together. Read more here and here
The only Pink Floyd concert I got to attend (and now ever will) was the Roger Waters – In The Flesh Tour way back on 13th April 2002 in Bangalore and that was simply the best concert I have attended so far. People poured into Bangalore from all corners of the country to attend the show and I also remember a certain cousin and a huge Floyd fan himself come down just for the show from Warangal! A truely great experience!
Hey Sab,
Good to see you listen to the champs..
I am a great fan of them, jus like u.
I have a XviD video of The Wall ALbum.
Its simply magical.
I love Pink Floyd. I once listened to Dark Side of the Moon for an entire semester during college (I had an early CD player – I started it at the beginning of the semester, pressed the repeat button, and pressed stop at the end of the semester. Yes – I occasionally turned the volume down to sleep at night ;) I have fond memories of my mom yelling “turn down that shit” when I was home from uni visiting for the summer blasting The Wall.
Comfortably numb is GOD level……
I love the other song too… “Coming Back to Life” was my ‘break up’ song
cheers
Yeah Comfortably Numb is right up there on the list of best songs ever. Now that you mention it, Coming back to life is a great ‘break up’ song! Hope you come back to life soon enough.
